DEGREE

Project stage 2: DEGREE 5.0 - Digital reflective teacher education 5.0: video-based - accessible - networked

From August 2022, the second phase of the project will focus on cooperation with the second phase of teacher training. In cooperation with the seminars of the subject German for the teaching profession at elementary school as well as secondary and comprehensive schools, video-based tasks will be implemented in the training of teacher candidates at the Center for Practical Teacher Training Dortmund. Taking into account the current mediatization, the analyses will focus in particular on the media-based actions of teachers as an object of reflection. The work with the platform itself serves as a further object of reflection.

DEGREE 4.0 aims to integrate school practice into university teaching and thus provide prospective teachers with theory-based practical experience and a starting point for reflecting on their own actions. To this end, a digital learning platform is being developed and researched with which students can work on and apply practically relevant course content using video-based case studies from practice. The central focus here is the development of appropriate task formats that develop the principle of reflective teacher training. This includes, among other things, that students compare, critically analyze and further develop video vignettes that they have created themselves as well as those provided by others in a flexible and problem-oriented manner under specific didactic questions.

In addition to the teaching subjects of German, computer science, mathematics and music, rehabilitation sciences are also involved in the project. This places a focus on accessibility and adaptability and promotes the creation of an accessible learning environment in order to take into account the heterogeneity of the student body and the potential of media for inclusion. The Division of Disability and Studies (DoBuS) completes the project team with its expertise in the implementation of the accessibility of the learning platform and in the accessible design of the video vignettes. Among other things, DoBuS creates the subtitles and audio descriptions for the video vignettes and, together with the rehabilitation sciences department, is responsible for analyzing and documenting the quality of the accessibility of the learning environment.
