What is the Institute for Diversity Studies?
The word Institute refers to a group of academics.
They research diversity together.
Diversity is a word from another language.
Diversity is another word for variety.
Diversity studies therefore means studying and researching diversity.
Diversity exists in many areas of society: people are diverse. They have
- different genders
- different skin colors
- different languages
- different body shapes
- different amounts of money
- different disabilities
- and many other differences
The Institute for Diversity Studies conducts research into these differences. It researches these differences in the areas of language, literature, media and cognition.
What is media?
Media are things that reach many people and make other things possible.
For example, television, internet, radio, newspapers, voice or money.
What is cognition?
Cognition is another word for processes in human consciousness. Consciousness refers to all processes in the human brain: Perceiving, thinking and feeling, for example.
